As judge of the 35th District Court of Texas, I preside in Brown and Mills Counties.  I have presided over thousands of criminal and civil cases during my years as District Judge. My court has a current clearance rate of over 95%, disposing of almost as many cases this last fiscal year as were filed; some 1,723 of them.

Despite numerous appeals over the years, I have rarely been reversed. In 2004, I was named in Texas Lawyer as one of the outstanding judges in our part of Texas. In 2006 I received a Presidential Commendation from the President of the State Bar of Texas.

I served as 35th District Attorney for eight years in the early 1980s and as Asst. D.A. in the late '70s. Before my election to the bench, I had over 20 years experience as a successful attorney with a broad general practice.

I graduated from Baylor University in 1973 and Baylor Law School in 1976. I was married for 30 years to Debby Ellis, an estate planning lawyer, who died of breast cancer in May 2006. I have three grown children.

I am the only candidate who has the judicial experience which is so important in the serious civil and criminal trials handled in our district court.  Running a successful campaign is expensive. I ask for your support and your vote on March 4th. The only promise I make is to continue to make the tough decisions required of a District Judge in a fair manner to the best of my ability.
